#Trust30 Initiative and Challenge

Laura Childs is part of the #Trust30 ChallengeI just signed up for the Ralph Waldo Emerson 30 Day Writing Challenge. The challenge gives me a purpose-driven reason to turn my attention back to this website – something I started years ago and abandoned. My needs too often take the back seat. Self-development is low on the list of priorities for a mom, supporter, martyr. The time is now. Soon I will be an empty-nester and I am already beginning to envision what (or who) I’ll become next.

About The Book

Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson urges readers to trust their intuition rather than conforming to the will of the majority.

About The 30 Day Challenge

  1. The #Trust30 challenge starts at 6am ET on May 31st and runs for 30 days.
  2. Each day we’ll post a prompt from an original thinker and doer on RalphWaldoEmerson.me. You can also sign-up for daily emails.
  3. Fill out the short form below to commit to participating in the #trust30 online initiative.
  4. Blog, journal, or create something on each of the 30 days.
  5. Tweet using the hashtag #trust30 to show your support and involvement.

How To Participate

This won’t cost you anything but your time and the riches to be had on June 30 are unmeasurable. As long as you put in the work.

  1. Get signed up for a free blog (go to wordpress.com or blogger.com)
  2. Get a free Twitter account (twitter.com)
  3. Pledge your commitment at http://ralphwaldoemerson.me/
  4. Sign up for email notifications when new prompts are posted (or vow to visit that link daily).
  5. Do the work (and if you can, tweet about your post, tagging it with a #trust30 to be sociable and to show your support to the project).

To give you a taste of what this is all about, here is the first prompt.

15 Minutes to Live

We are afraid of truth, afraid of fortune, afraid of death, and afraid of each other. Our age yields no great and perfect persons. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

You just discovered you have fifteen minutes to live.

1. Set a timer for fifteen minutes.
2. Write the story that has to be written.

This is good for you and good for the world.

Do This.
Share Yourself.
And Grow.

Your friend always, Laura Childs
